Attitude: Fencing is fun
but it’s also a serious Olympic sport. Out of respect for
yourself and fellow fencers you should closely follow the directions
of your coaches. Always do your best to
participate and pay attention in class. Always watch and learn from
lessons being taught to others and do your best to help fellow
fencers. We will all get better by working together.
Participation: Show up for classes on time. You will get out of
this what you put into it. Do suggested practice and conditioning at
home in between classes so as to maximize your time spent learning
new material in class. Attend as many classes as possible and begin
tournament competition as soon as your coach
says you’re ready. This is where the fun starts.
Safety: No horseplay. Follow the
safety rules and practice good attitude.
USFA Membership:
Membership is required to participate in Central Mississippi Fencing
club activities. This does three things. It boosts the USFA membership
(and you get a cool magazine); it allows you to enter any official
tournaments and it provides you with insurance in the unlikely event
of an injury while participating in any fencing activity. For
beginners, after
your course, if you feel you want to continue learning how to
fence you will be required to join the USFA to belong to
Central Mississippi Fencing.
Equipment: For beginners no
special equipment is needed, everything will be provided. You may
purchase your own protective
gear at any time and you will need to get basic gear
of your own to continue after the basic classes (we will advise you
on what you need). When you want to start participating in electric
scoring and competitions you will need to purchase the additional required items or rent
equipment per session from the club.
Liability Waiver: A
signed waiver is required to participate in Central Mississippi
Fencing club activities. No exceptions.
Dues: $40 per month due at the
first class of the month but no later then the 10th.
(discounted rate)
$400 per individual or $700 per family payable at any
time for 12 consecutive months of membership.
Dues include group lessons, use of
club scoring equipment, up to 25
hours of available fencing time per month, advise and
encouragement of professional
coach's and usually assistance and coaching at tournaments.
Private lessons are available
at the coach's discretion and may also be arranged
during non-club hours. ($20 per 30 minutes)
